The genre of King Arthur (1691) by Henry Purcell is a semi-opera combining dance, song, prose and spectacular stage effects. The British ruler of legend does not have a vocal role but the work does feature a whole series of different mythological figures. The masterpiece by Purcell is played under the imposing direction of Paul McCreesh with the focus on orchestral and vocal interpretation. The specialist celebrated worldwide for period performances of Renaissance and Baroque music arrives at the Liszt Academy at the head of his own ensemble, Gabrieli Consort & Players, founded in 1982. From time to time, McCreesh and Gabrieli depart from their specialist periods and have proved themselves fine exponents of works by Berlioz and even Britten.

Az angol zene a 17. században a politikai és társadalmi viszonyokhoz hasonló volumenű változáson ment keresztül. Az utolsó évtizedekre érett be a helyi hagyományok, illetve az országba bejutott francia és olasz zene fúziója, amely egy sajátos, sokszínű és gazdag angol barokk stílus létrejöttét eredményezte. Ennek a zenei áramlatnak a legfőbb képviselői John Blow, illetve a tragikusan rövid életű tanítványa, Henry Purcell voltak.
Ezen az estén a zongoratrió-irodalom alapművei, Mozart, Mendelssohn és Schumann szerzeményei szólalnak meg három tehetséges művész előadásában. Korossy-Khayll Csongor Junior Prima díjas hegedűművész, a Zeneakadémia Doktori Iskolájának hallgatója, valamint alapító tagja és első hegedűse a Korossy Kvartettnek, amellyel a Bartók Világversenyen döntőbe jutott. Várallyay Kinga zongorista jelenleg ugyancsak a Liszt Ferenc Zeneművészeti Egyetem doktorandusza. A zenész családból származó Dolfin Balázs csellista tehetségét és elhivatottságát Junior Prima díjjal jutalmazták, de 2025-ben elnyerte a a Cziffra Fesztivál Tehetség díját is.
